In order for dental implants to be long-lasting, there must be a solid jawbone of a certain thickness and size around it. There is no upper age limit for the implant application.

OSSEOINTEGRATION

In order for dental implants to remain healthy against the pressures caused by chewing, they must be in full harmony with the jawbone. The full circumference of the placed implant is called osseointegration. For osseointegration, a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 months is required after the operation, depending on the type of operation, the region, the age and health of the patient. When this period is completed, the appropriate implant prosthesis is made.

PLACING THE DENTAL IMPLANT

Dental implant placement operation is performed using an appropriate anesthetic, the patient does not feel any pain. The pain felt on the day of implant placement can be prevented with simple painkillers to be taken, and it has been observed that this pain is not different from the pain felt after tooth extraction.

CARE OF IMPLANTS

After the application of dental implants, cleaning should be seen by the patient as part of the treatment. Considering that there are foreign bodies relative to the body, it is obvious that the maintenance, cleaning and control of dental implants are more important than natural teeth. According to the prosthesis you use on the implant, the cleaning and care you will apply will be explained to you by your doctor.

PROSTHESES TO BE APPLIED ON DENTAL IMPLANTS

Prosthetic teeth to be made on the implant can be applied both movable and fixed, according to your needs and wishes, if there are conditions that will meet medical requirements. A dental implant does not need to be placed for each lost tooth. Most of the time, a dental implant is used as a bridge pillar and can serve the role of two or three missing teeth. Prosthesis and implant planning suitable for you will be explained by your doctor after the examinations and x-ray examination.

RISKS THAT MAY OCCUR IN IMPLANT TREATMENT

In implant operations, there is no risk other than the risks that may be encountered in oral surgical procedures. These are infections and allergic reactions in the early stages, and in the later periods, problems that will arise due to not fulfilling oral hygiene. The problems that occur in the early period are reduced to the lowest level by following the rules to be followed after the operation, and the problems that occur in the late period by paying attention to oral care.

If the body rejects the implant (3.89% according to research), the dental implant is removed in a similar procedure to a tooth extraction. Following the healing of the jawbone, either the implant is applied again or the area is restored with classical type prostheses.

DISADVANTAGES OF DENTAL IMPLANTS

Because the implant materials are produced with high technology and the materials used are imported, the cost is higher than conventional prostheses.

In order to apply prosthesis, osseointegration of the implant is expected.
After the implant is placed, attention should be paid to oral care and cleaning.
The patient should not have a serious illness that affects the general health status. (Such as the presence of uncontrolled diabetes)
